Stratford Design Associates was founded in 1981 by Gerald Stratford after twenty years experience in the San Francisco graphics industry.

The company he founded grew from a love of printing and design garnered from years working at the printing company, Neal Stratford & Kerr, started by his grandfather in 1906. 

In 1984 a fourth generation of Stratfords, Gerry Stratford III (Strat) joined the company along with Tim Gerould a year later and continued to grow and expand the business.

In the mid eighties, SDA fully embraced the migration of design to the computer, becoming beta site for adobe systems. In the nineties we jumped on the internet early, establishing a new department to provide clients with web related services and other new media needs such as computer based training.

1999 Gerald Stratford retired from SDA and passed ownership to his son Gerry Stratford (Strat) art director Tim Gerould and Laura Jost.

SDA now embarks on a new chapter of continued creative services for our clients.
